HIV-1 Coreceptor Tropism,
Ultradeep Sequencing (UDS)
For patients with detectable viral loads*

Triplicate population sequencing with reflex to ultradeep sequencing for patients with detectable viral loads only

Indicates whether a patient has a virus that is:

  • CCR5-tropic
  • Dual/mixed or CXCR4-tropic

If the triplicate population sequencing result is CXCR4 NOT DETECTED, then ultradeep sequencing will be performed at an additional charge

*Viral load of ≥1000 copies/mL recommended for successful amplification.

Can be used in patients who are treatment naïve or experiencing virologic failure with a detectable viral load*

Able to detect X4 minor variants when present in ≥0.5% of the total viral population

Turnaround time: Approximately 7 to 10 days from sample receipt

*Viral load of ≥1000 copies/mL recommended for successful amplification.
Technical sensitivity of ultradeep sequencing instrument: 0.5%; Biological sensitivity (LOD95) of ultradeep sequencing assay: 5% to 12%.
Approximately 7 days for population sequencing and approximately 3 additional days if sample reflexed to ultradeep sequencing; may vary depending on sample routing.

Collect blood in sterile tubes containing EDTA (lavender-top) or PPT (white-top).
Separate plasma from cells by centrifugation within 6 hours.
Transfer 2 mL plasma to separate plastic screw-cap vial (minimum volume 0.6 mL).
Freeze and ship frozen.
